Swansea City In Talks to Sign Celtic Midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung

Liberty Stadium side look to land Parkhead youngster.

Sky Sports sources understand Swansea are in talks with Celtic over signing Ki Sung-yueng.

Ki’s future at Celtic has been the subject of conjecture this summer with a number of clubs credited with an interest in the midfielder.

The 23-year-old has impressed at Parkhead since joining Celtic from FC Seoul during the January transfer window in 2010, helping them win the SPL title last season, while also catching the eye at the Olympics with South Korea.

The likes of Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers have been linked with a move for Ki, but it appears Swansea are in pole position to land the South Korean.

Michael Laudrup has reportedly been looking for a creative midfielder since he lost the services of Joe Allen to Liverpool and a move for Celtic’s South Korean international Ki Sung-Yeung may well have been aided by the South Wales side’s excellent opening Premier League result of the campaign, a 5-0 thrashing of QPR who are also linked with the 23 year old.

The Celtic star may well be keen on a move to the English top tier having enjoyed two solid campaigns in the SPL and Neil Lennon may struggle to persuade the talented rangy midfielder to remain at the Glasgow side, not least because the demotion of Rangers may well take the remaining competitive edge out of playing in Scotland’s top division.

Laudrup watched summer signings Chico, De Guzman and in particular Michu put in good performances as Swansea City thrashed QPR at Loftus Road, a display which may help prevent the club’s other top talents from following Joe Allen to the exit.
