QPR Misfit Joey Barton Close to Sealing Marseille Loan Switch

Unwanted Loftus Road midfielder could be Ligue 1 bound.

QPR’s Joey Barton closes in on Marseille season-long loan

QPR will hold further talks with Marseille on Tuesday as midfielder Joey Barton moves closer to a season-long loan.

A deal has been agreed in principle, while the 29-year-old Barton, who is one game into a 12-match ban, is willing to move to the Ligue 1 club.

QPR are keen to bring Marseille midfielder Stephane Mbia to Loftus Road as part of the deal.

Joey Barton does not appear to have a future at QPR, so much so that the midfielder’s player profile has been vanquished from the club’s official website, so any move that Mark Hughes can make that would benefit the club in any way, would surely be considered.

Therefore Marseille’s reported interest in the former Man City & Newcastle United misfit may well help the West London side to move nearer to capturing Stephane Mbia, who this source cites as a Super Hoops target.

Barton may well have burned all his bridges back to the West London club after a series of incidents left QPR willing to offload the one cap England man, and all hope of an ongoing career at Loftus Road were extinguished following the handing down of a 12 match ban following the 29 year old’s Man City meltdown in the last game of the last campaign.
