Everton Prepare Bid for Wolves Pair

Goodison Park outfit keen on Molineux duo.

Everton prepare double swoop for Wolves duo Doyle and Ward

Kevin Doyle is firmly back on Everton’s radar – along with left back Stephen Ward.

Everton manager David Moyes was at Molineux on Tuesday night to see Doyle and Ward help Wolves to a 3-1 win over Barnsley.

Moyes has long admired Doyle’s unstinting work-rate and had a bid for his services last January rejected.

All the Molineux related transfer talk this summer has surrounded Wolves pair Steven Fletcher & Matt Jarvis but there are of course other talented individuals who could well be set for instant returns to the top tier and David Moyes is seemingly looking to strengthen his squad with a move for a pair of Irish internationals.

Moyes may feel that even after the summer signings of Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith that an injection of further striking options could be needed and Kevin Doyle has proved himself in the top tier and would presumably jump at the chance to move to Goodison Park.

The former Reading man has not been as prolific as he was during his Royals stint but the hard-working forward’s work is not just about goals and he probably wouldn’t cost a huge sum, though Stale Solbakken may be reluctant to sell if he does see Fletcher leave for Sunderland. Doyle did cost Wolves £6.5m so one would imagine the Championship side would only consider offers in excess of that outlay.

Stephen Ward is something of a utility player who can work effectively in a number of positions and as such could be a good way of boosting strength in depth in the Toffees squad.

Moyes have once again worked wonders with a restricted budget but the sale of Jack Rodwell may give him leeway to make decent offers for this Wolves pair.
