Tottenham Defender Michael Dawson To Reject QPR Switch And Fight For His Place At White Hart Lane

Dawson rejects QPR talks.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has rejected the chance to join QPR and vowed to win back his place at Spurs.

The north Londoners accepted a £9m offer from the Hoops for Dawson on Tuesday but it is understood that the 28-year-old is not interested in a move to Loftus Road and wants to win over Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas.

The Portuguese tactician has told Dawson that he will be fourth choice centre-half this season, behind Younes Kaboul, William Gallas, Jan Vertonghen and Steven Caulker.

But the England international is determined to fight for his place at White Hart Lane and has told the club he is keen to stay.

The news will come as a blow to QPR boss Mark Hughes, who wanted the former Nottingham Forest man to form a brand new centre-back partnership with Ricardo Carvalho who is set to join the R’s on loan from Real Madrid.

Hughes wasted no time in moving for Dawson after watching his side lose 5-0 at home to Swansea in their opening Premier League match of the season and the Welshman may now turn to Marseilles’s Stephane Mbia.

Dawson’s decision may also dent Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s transfer plans. The club are reportedly hoping to finance big-money moves for Brazilian duo Leandro Damiao and Willian before the end of the month.
