Liberty Stadium side snap up talented South Korean.

Swansea City have broken their transfer record to sign Ki Sung-Yeung from Celtic, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

South Korean Ki, 23, had a medical in Swansea on Friday before signing a three-year contract, with the fee to Celtic believed to be around £6m.

“When I look at Swansea I see a club that is growing,” said Ki. “The style here is very attractive to me.

“I think I can grow as a player and help the club move forward.”

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup says Ki, who made 34 appearances for Celtic last season, will add midfield dynamism to his side.
“He’s an important player to have in midfield,” said Laudrup.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has seen his tenure at the Liberty Stadium get off to a rip-roaring start with two easy wins from their first two games of the season. The Dane has been very astute during the summer transfer window, bringing a collection of quality players for a total price less than that which they received from Liverpool for Joe Allen.

The Liberty Stadium boss saw Chico, Jonathan de Guzman and Michu all put in solid quality displays in the first match of the season and now the Dane has reportedly agreed a deal in the region of £6m for 23 year old South Korean international Ki Sung-Yueng.

The intelligent midfielder has had two quality seasons at Parkhead, helping his side to an SPL title last term and making a total of 85 appearances in the process, scoring 11 goals.

Swansea City may well be about lose another of their prominent players before the transfer window slams shut, with Scott Sinclair closing in on a Man City move.
