Shakhtar CEO says Spurs way off in Willian bid.
The CEO of Shakhtar Donetsk says Tottenham must significantly increase their offer if they want to sign Brazilian forward Willian.
Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan of the 24-year-old, who he tried to sign for Chelsea last summer, and wants to conclude a deal before the end of the month.
Willian is desperate to join Spurs and has pleaded with the Ukrainian club to let him leave.
But Sergei Anatolyevich, Shakhtar CEO, says Spurs have offered just £9.5m in installments, with his club holding out for significantly more.
“We’ve been holding negotiations with Tottenham for a long time,” Anatolyevich told Shakhtar’s official website.
“As of now, we have only one official proposal from Tottenham – an offer worth €12 million [£9m] to be paid in annual instalments.
“All other conversations that we are holding over the phone are a little unserious, because now they can say one thing and tomorrow another.
“The only offer we have on the table is the one I’ve mentioned above. So there is no point in talking about 20 or 25 million.
“Our position is €30m [£23m]. At the moment, no one has mentioned this sum via the phone or official correspondence. Therefore, our position remains the same as before, and it is difficult to add something.”
Willian can play on the wing or behind a striker and Villas-Boas wants the forward to play in a front three with Emmanuel Adebayor and Gareth Bale.
