DONE DEAL: Real Madrid Agree £27m Deal to Sign Tottenham Midfielder Luka Modric

White Hart Lane schemer completes Bernabeu move.

CLUB ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH REAL MADRID AND TRANSFER OF LUKA MODRIC

The Club can announce that it has signed a partnership agreement with Real Madrid FC and reached agreement for the transfer of Luka Modric, subject to medical, to the Spanish club.

The partnership agreement will see the two Clubs working together in respect of players, coaching, best practices and commercial relationships.

Real Madrid FC President, Florentino Perez Rodriguez, said, “The strong relationship and affinity between our two clubs has resulted in the cementing of a longer-term partnership and the successful transfer of Luka Modric. We are delighted to welcome Luka and look forward to working closely with Tottenham in the coming years.”

According to the Daily Mail Real Madrid will pay £27m for 26 year old Croatian international having been locked in talks to sign Luka Modric for the best part of two months.

It appears that Tottenham have come to an agreement that not only includes a cash fee for Modric but also a long term understanding between the two clubs that could perhaps lead to more loan activity between the two clubs, more than likely in the White Hart Lane side’s favour.

Jose Mourinho may have felt that the best way to push forward and complete this long running deal was some sort of partnership between the two sides and it’s a deal that Bernabeu president Florentino Perez appears happy to strike.

Andre Villas-Boas was probably keen to complete this deal earlier so that he could invest the funds from the sale in a replacement for the former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder. Trying to keep hold of Modric was clearly going to be an exercise in futility and now the Tottenham boss has four days to find and sign a good creative midfielder.

One does wonder if Modric will easily break into Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven given that the Spurs man will have to fight the likes of Xabi Alonso, Kaka, Mesut Ozil and Esteban Granero for a central midfield slot.
