Arsenal Outcast Nicklas Bendtner Could Stay At Emirates, As AC Milan Move Collapses

Bendtner could stay with Gunners.

Nicklas Bendtner looks set be denied his dream switch to AC Milan, after the San Siro giants made a move for Lyon star Bafetimbi Gomis.

Danish striker Bendtner, who has spent recent spells on loan at Birmingham and Sunderland, appears to have no future at Arsenal following the summer arrivals of Oliver Giroud and Lukas Podolski.

And he had set his sights on a move to Serie A, with Milan apparently interested in taking him to Italy.

But that deal could now be scuppered as Milan consider a bid for France international Gomis, who averages around a goal every three games for Lyon.

Milan are desperate to sign a striker before the close of the transfer window and they believe it will be quicker to broker a deal for Gomis than to agree terms with Arsenal over Bendtner.

After numerous claims from his agent that he was set to sign for a big European club, Nicklas Bendtner could find himself stuck at Arsenal after the transfer window closes on Friday night.

The Dane appears no closer to an exit after his dream switch to AC Milan to broke down. Not only are AC reportedly considering Lyon’s Bafetimbi Gomis, but the Rossoneri have also been offered Liverpool’s Andy Carroll in a cut-price deal, making Bendtner a distant third choice as things stand.

The Paddy Power Pants-wearer might now find himself in the reserves until at least January, unless his agent can pull his finger out between now and Friday.

The failure to shift unwanted players – particularly forwards – seems to be a running theme at the Emirates this summer. Along with Bendtner, the club still has Park Chu-Young, Andrei Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh on its books, all of whom are available for transfer.

Depressingly, since the sale of star man Robin van Persie, Bendtner is actually Arsenal’s current top scorer. And given that the Gunners have failed to find the net in their opening two league games, perhaps boss Arsene Wenger should given the Dane and his fellow outcasts another chance? Or maybe not.
