Mancini hoping to conclude deals for Maicon and Sinclair this week.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is hopeful of concluding deals for Inter Milan full-back Maicon and Swansea’s Scott Sinclair before the end of the week, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Sinclair, 23, is refusing to sign a new deal at the Liberty Stadium and was left out of the Swans’ squad for the win over West Ham, amid reports of a bid from City.
The former Chelsea winger now looks set to join the Champions in a £6m deal in time to face QPR on Saturday.
Sinclair will become Mancini’s second signing of the summer, after Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell arrived for £12m earlier this month.
The Italian is also tracking want-away Inter star Maicon. Mancini managed the 30-year-old at the San Siro and has upped his interest after learning that Micah Richards will be sidelined for over a month with an ankle injury.
Maicon has gone public with his desire for a fresh challenge and Nerazzurri boss Andrea Stramaccioni has admitted he could leave the club before Friday’s deadline.
“In my view, Maicon is the best in the world but obviously there are different evaluations to be made,” he said.
The Brazil international’s agent, Roberto Calenda, was reportedly in Manchester last week but Mancini knocked back the claims by saying, “He is an Inter player.”
But City are expected to make an official bid for Maicon before the end of the week, as Mancini prepares to make a late splash in the transfer market after the Eastlands club’s unconvincing start to the season.
