QPR Closing In On Capture Of Inter Milan ‘Keeper Julio Cesar

QPR close to signing Brazilian ‘keeper.

QPR are set to sign Brazilian ‘keeper Julio Cesar from Inter Milan, reports the London Evening Standard.

The 32-year-old arrived in London on Monday to finalise terms with the Loftus Road outfit.

The Brazilian international was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier this month but the north Londoners have turned their attentions to Lyon’s Hugo Lloris leaving the Hoops free to land Cesar.

The custodian won the Champions League and five Serie A titles with Inter and was widely considered to be one of the best defenders in the world during his heyday.

But the Nerazzurri’s £9m capture of Samir Handanovic from Udinese has forced Cesar down the pecking order at the San Siro and he is desperate for a fresh start this summer.

The move does not bode well for Robert Green, who joined the R’s from West Ham this summer but shipped five goals in their opening Premier League match with Swansea and looked shaky.

Rangers boss Mark Hughes is also hoping to resume talks with Tottenham centre-half Michael Dawson and Real Madrid’s Ricardo Carvalho on Monday, as the Welshman looks to add steel to a flimsy backline.
