Spanish giants join race for Lille star.
Real Madrid have upped their search for a new right-back, as Jose Mourinho suggested that the club could do more business before the summer’s transfer window shuts on Friday.
Lille’s Mathieu Debuchy and Internazionale’s Maicon are the names in the frame, according to various reports in the Spanish media on Wednesday morning.
Mourinho said at his pre-Supercopa second leg press conference on Tuesday that the next few days could see players both coming and going at the Bernabeu.
“Modric’s arrival does not mean the door is closed,” Mourinho said. “Not for arrivals or departures. It is open for everything.”
Widespread reports in the Madrid media said Real had joined Premier League side Newcastle in the hunt for France international Debuchy, 27, who earlier in the summer told French television he saw his future away from the Ligue 1 club.
Alan Pardew’s side have reportedly had a £6 million bid turned down for the player.

With Danny Simpson’s future in doubt, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been desperate to add a top-quality right-back to his squad this summer but has so far been frustrated in his attempts to sign Lille’s Mathieu Debuchy.
Although the Ligue 1 club have already signed a replacement for the 26-year-old, they are stubbornly sticking to their hefty £12m asking-price and, with the Toon’s thrifty board unwilling to pay-up, the clubs have been locked in a stalemate for some time.
Even more frustrating to Pardew is the fact that Debuchy, who is France’s first choice in his poistion, is desperate to move to St James’ Park, after being convinced to reject Chelsea by former Lille and current Les Bleus teammate Yohan Cabaye.
Chelsea have since moved on and signed Cesar Azpilicueta but Toon remain in the hunt but have reportedly considered Ajax’s Gregory van der Wiel as a cheaper alternative.
Their pursuit of Debuchy could be well and truly over if the above source proves correct and Real Madrid come calling. Even if Debuchy does fancy a move to the north-east, he is likely to think again if the chance to play for the biggest club in the world pops up in the next few days.
It would be a sickening end to a long chase for Pardew if the Frenchman makes a surprise move to Real but with Lille standing firm, it’s looking increasingly likely.
