Shakhtar reject £11m bid for winger.
The CEO of Shaktar Donetsk says the club have rejected a fresh offer from Tottenham for forward Willian and claims the Londoners are also interested in Douglas Costa and Fernandinho.
Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas tried to sign Willian last summer when he was at Chelsea and has rekindled his interest in the 24-year-old since taking over at Spurs.
The Lilywhites had a £9m bid for the player rejected last week and Sergei Palkin, Shakhtar CEO, has revealed a new bid of around £11m has also been turned down.
“Mr. Levy, the Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur FC, personally flew to Donetsk to negotiate over Willian. But his latest offer was 15 million euros, which we, of course, did not accept,” Palkin told the club’s official website.
“Levy, by the way, hinted that besides Willian, Villas-Boas was interested in Douglas Costa and Fernandinho, but he mentioned that just casually, without any specifics.”
Palkin’s claim was backed-up by Costa’s agent, Cesar Bottega, who told calciomercato.it: “Villas-Boas appreciates Douglas Costa’s qualities, although we have not received any official offer. The player’s evaluation is around €18million (£14.3m).”
Willian, meanwhile, has stated on several occasions his desire to leave Shakhtar and move to the Premier League.
