Tottenham Target Leandro Damiao Could Still Make Premier League Switch, Says Agent

Brazilian can leave Internacional for £20m.

Tottenham target Leandro Damiao could still make a dramatic late move to the Premier League, according to his agent.

The Brazilian has been linked with a switch to the north Londoners for the past two seasons, while Manchester City are also understood to be tracking the 23-year-old.

Damiao caught the eye at this summer’s Olympic Games, finishing top scorer in the tournament with six goals as Brazil claimed the Silver Medal.

The powerful forward was the subject of an unsuccessful bid from Tottenham earlier in the summer and had looked destined to remain in Porto Alegre for the foreseeable future.

But his agent, Cesar Bottega, has refused to rule out the possibility of his client making a late move to the Premier League, with Friday’s transfer deadline looming.

“He has has been linked to several Premier League clubs, but it is difficult for him to leave Internacional because he is worth at least €25 million [£20m],” Bottega told

“However, in England there are several teams that could pay that kind of money.”

Spurs are in cash after selling Luka Modric to Real Madrid for £33m and remain in need of a third striker, with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor currently the only forwards on the club’s books.
