DONE DEAL: Man City Agree £8m Deal to Sign Swansea City Attacker Scott Sinclair

Etihad Stadium side land long term target.

Manchester City are set to sign Swansea winger Scott Sinclair after agreeing a deal with the Welsh side that could reach £8million including add-ons.

The player’s move seemed to have stalled with Swansea wanting more than the £6.2million originally offered by the Etihad side.

But with only a year left on Sinclair’s contract at the Liberty Stadium, chairman Huw Jenkins has agreed to let the player go.
Sinclair has agreed personal terms for his move, which many have suggested is not the wisest career wise as opportunities may be limited under Roberto Mancini.

So Roberto Mancini has gotten his wish to spend more money on boosting his expansive Etihad Stadium squad and Swansea City may well feel that £8m is a good fee to receive for a player who had stated his intention to leave the South Wales side.

With just a year to run on Scott Sinclair’s contract there seemed little hope of the Liberty Stadium side keeping hold of the former Chelsea youngster and perhaps the injection of funds will hand Michael Laudrup the chance to bring in another signing before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow night.

The signing represents Roberto Mancini’s second capture of the summer, having already brought in Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell, but whilst both players could well be considered as an attempt to plan for the future arguably the pair could also find it tough to cement a place in the Italian’s first team squad in the short-term, such is the quality and strength in depth the Man City boss has in his armoury.

Sinclair has served Swansea City well, netting 27 goals in their promotion campaign before being converted into a wide attacking role and putting in a solid season in last term to help his side to establish their position in the Premier League.
