Liverpool Agree £1m Fee For Bayer Leverkusen Wonderkid

Promising young German striker set to sign for Liverpool.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Samed Yesil is set to join Liverpool in a £1m deal.

Brendan Rodgers has agreed a fee with Leverkusen boss, and former Liverpool player, Sami Hyypia, for the 18-year-old striker to move to Anfield, according to The Guardian.

Yesil, who starred for Germany at the U-17 World Cup in 2011, was not involved when the two sides met in a pre-season friendly at Anfield earlier this month, but his goalscoring record for the German U-16, U-17 and U18 sides in the last few years has encouraged Rodgers that he has the potential to succeed on Merseyside.

On completion of the deal, the German will become the fourth signing of new Liverpool boss Rodgers, with Joe Allen, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi already having joined up this summer.

Rodgers would like to bring in at least one more big-name signing before the close of the transfer window at midnight on Friday, but the arrival of more players could be dependent on the manager being able to off-load Andy Carroll, whom remains eager to fight for his place at Anfield.
