Michael Dawson’s Move To QPR Is Off, With Younes Kaboul Set To Be Sidelined For Four Months

Spurs forced to pull the plug on £9m Dawson switch.

Michael Dawson’s proposed £9m move from Tottenham to QPR is off after Younes Kaboul announced he will miss the next four months following successful knee surgery.

Spurs accepted a bid from their London rivals for Dawson and, despite failing to agree personal terms last week, Hoops’ boss Mark Hughes was confident of completing the deal before Friday’s transfer deadline.

But Tottenham have now said they want to keep Dawson after Kaboul underwent surgery on Thursday. The Frenchman played in Spurs’ defeat at Newcastle a fortnight ago but felt soreness in his knee and was referred to a specialist in France, missing Spurs’ draw with West Brom last Saturday.

Kaboul has now undergone surgery to fix the problem and took to twitter to confirm the length of his absence.

Spurs will also consider a loanee – possibly Real Madrid’s Ricardo Carvalho – to cover for the France international, who was a rock at the heart of their defence last season.

Dawson was also wanted by Stoke and the Potters remain interested in Spurs pass-master Tom Huddletsone. Boss Tony Pulis remains hopeful a deal for the 25-year-old can be concluded before Friday’s deadline.
