Arsenal Plan Audacious Move to Sign Chelsea Pair On Deadline Day

Emirates Stadium side keen on Stamford Bridge duo.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up last ditch moves to sign Chelsea pair Florent Malouda and Michael Essien as he looks to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut.

The Arsenal manager has been linked with interest in the French international Malouda on many occasions and sees the veteran winger as a player who can offer experience on the flanks and the 32 year old may well be tempted by a chance to move to join a number of international team-mates at the North London club.

Florent Malouda is in his sixth season at Stamford Bridge but is set to be something of a bit-part player at the West London club and though he would only be offered a one year contract, as it standard practice when Arsene Wenger is bringing in players over 30 years of age, the French Guiana born flair player may feel it a good opportunity to consider.

Wenger may feel that a senior presence could help to pass on their ‘know-how’ to youngsters like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Malouda would be joining national team-mates Laurent Koscielny, Bacary Sagna, Alou Diarra, Olivier Giroud and Sebastien Squillaci.

The Gunners boss has been linked with advances to bring in Chelsea enforcer Michael Essien on a season long loan deal but Arsene Wenger is ready to make an offer to sign the Ghanaian international on a permanent basis if the West London side are not willing to release the experienced midfielder on a temporary basis.

Wenger will be looking to bring in a defensive midfielder following Alex Song’s move to Barcelona and Essien may well be the right man for the job.

Arguably both Chelsea players do not have much of a future at Stamford Bridge and could well be keen to remain in the English top tier and a move to Arsenal may tempt the pair.

Michael Essien and Florent Malouda know each other well having spent five years as Chelsea team-mates and two years together at Lyon, where the pair clinched back to back Ligue 1 titles at the Stade Gerland.
