Dutchman set to leave Spurs after two seasons.

SV Hamburg are set to sign Tottenham attacker Rafael van deer Vaart after the player’s agent confirmed he was on his way to Germany for a medical.

The Dutchman is reportedly keen to return to his former club because his wife Sylvie works as a TV presenter in Hamburg.

According to German newspaper Bild, the Bundesliga club are set to pay £10m for the 29-year-old, who joined Spurs for £8m from Real Madrid exactly two years ago and quickly established himself as a fans favourite in north London.

The Netherlands international’s agent, Robert Geerlings, says that his client is heading to Germany to conclude the deal.

“I can confirm that Rafael is on his way to Hamburg now for a medical,” Geerlings is quoted as saying by the BBC.

Van der Vaart, who began his career at Ajax, has made 63 league appearances for Spurs, scoring 24 times.

Spurs have signed attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fulham’s Moussa Dembele this summer, paving the way for the talented forward to leave White Hart Lane.
