Emirates Stadium striker set for Serie A switch.
Nicklas Bendtner waits on Arsenal to clear Juventus move
Juventus are closing in on a deal for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner after he accepted a move to the Serie A Champions.
Bendtner has been told he is free to quit Arsenal for just £5 million this summer, having failed to rejuvenate his stalling career during a loan spell at Sunderland last season.
The 24-year-old has no shortage of interest from Italy, and he dispatched agent Tom Brookes to Milan yesterday to
negotiate, after receiving offers from several Serie A clubs.
Juventus would pay Arsenal £1 million to take Bendtner on a season-long loan, and will then have the option to sign him permanently for £5 million next summer.
Arsene Wenger has been looking to permanently offload Nicklas Bendtner for the best part of 18 months and it appears that the Danish forward is finally set to leave the Emirates Stadium after Serie A side Juventus took a surprising interest in the Arsenal misfit.
Having spent last term on loan at Sunderland the giant striker returned to North London but did not join Arsenal on their Asian tour and it was therefore obvious that Wenger had opted to cut the 24 year old out of his first team squad.
Juventus clinched the domestic title last term without losing a game but had managed to do so without much in the way of effective striking options and the Turin side may feel that Bendtner has the ability to make it in Italy.
If Wenger can secure a total fee of £6m for the giant Copenhagen born marksman then the Gunners boss will gladly take the money and run.
Bendtner has made a total of 157 appearances for Arsenal, of which 78 were from the bench, and scored 43 goals in the process.
