Liverpool Close to Agreeing Deal to Sign Fulham Attacker Clint Dempsey

Anfield side closing on Craven Cottage forward.

Whilst an opening offer for American forward Clint Dempsey may well have been turned down Liverpool are reportedly closing in on the 29 year old Fulham attacker.

Martin Jol has already brought in Man United veteran Dimitar Berbatov, who may well act as a replacement for the Texan, and it could be a case of who blinks first as both sides haggle over the fee for he Fulham star.

Dempsey notched up 23 goals last term and has spent much of the summer being strongly linked with an exit from his West London club and having been fined and forced out of the Fulham first team picture a move away from Craven Cottage is looking increasingly likely.

Brendan Rodgers could well do with alternative attacking options after the loaning out of Andy Carroll to West Ham left him with just two recognised strikers, Luis Suarez & Fabio Borini, and with Dempsey having just a year to run on his current contract Fulham will be keen to make something from his sale in preference to losing the in-form forward for nothing in a year’s time.
