Top 10: Free Agents Who Can Still Be Signed This Month

Ten free-agents, and others who are free to leave despite the transfer window being shut, who could do join Premier League clubs this September.

10 & 9. Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka

Neither are free agents just yet but there are growing rumblings from China that Shanghai Shenhua will be forced to release the two former Chelsea strikers, as growing boardroom tension forces the Super League club toward financial meltdown. Drogba and Anelka both reportedly earn around £250,000 a week and will be the first players off the wage bill in such an eventuality.

Where could they end up? A host of Premier League and European clubs would jump at the chance to sign either player on a free. Liverpool are in drastic need of a striker (or two) but after struggling to cough up for Clint Dempsey, it’s hard to see the Anfield club paying the wages or signing on fee that these mercenary stars will demand.
