West Ham Hoping For Andy Carroll Stay

Hammers confident of keeping Carroll beyond January despite recall option in his contract.

West Ham United bosses are hoping to keep hold of Andy Carroll until the end of the season despite a clause in his contract allowing Liverpool to recall him in January.

Carroll joined the Hammers on a season-long loan before the close of the summer transfer window and immediately impressed his new club with a strong showing in their 3-0 defeat of Fulham.

However, it has emerged that Liverpool have the option to recall the man they made the most expensive player in British history when they paid £35m for him on the last day of the January transfer window in 2011, reports Sky Sports.

Liverpool now find themselves in a striker crisis after failing to bring in a replacement for Carroll, who Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers deemed surplus to requirements, on transfer deadline day, but West Ham co-chairman David Gold has tweeted that he is confident Carroll will not be returning to Anfield before the end of the season.

Carroll has made 44 appearances for parent club Liverpool, scoring 6 goals.
