Tottenham Prepare January Move to Sign Man United Striker Javier Hernandez

White Hart Lane boss keen on Old Trafford forward.

It has emerged on Wednesday that Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking at Manchester United’s goal poaching striker Javier Hernandez, as one of their main targets during the January transfer window.

Though Tottenham brought in Emmanuel Adebayor and American Clint Dempsey in to boost their firepower this summer Andre Villas-Boas arguably could still do with extra support up front and by January Javier Hernandez may have a clearer understanding of the part he will play in Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team set-up.

The 24 year old Mexican international had a terrific first season at Man United, netting 20 goals in all competitions in a support role as Ferguson’s side romped to a Premier League title. However things did not pan out so well in his second term at the club.

The speedy forward didn’t see a great deal of first team playing time, despite the fact that Dimitar Berbatov had practically vanished from view. Youngster Danny Welbeck had effectively jumped ahead of Chicharito in the Man United pecking order and Hernandez’s form suffered as a result.

The arrival of Robin Van Persie has effectively made the Guadalajara born forward the club’s fourth choice attacking option and as a result he has secured just 18 minutes of first team football thus far this term.

If by January things have not improved then perhaps Tottenham have a chance to tempt Javier Hernandez into pushing for a move as he would surely not want to stagnate on the Man United bench at a time when his career should be blooming. This would all of course depend on the Sir Alex Ferguson’s willingness to consider offers for the bit-part player.

Javier Hernandez has made 82 appearances for Man United since his move to Old Trafford two years ago, of which 33 were from the bench, and the talented youngster has scored 32 goals in the process.
