Belgium Star’s Loan Move To Everton Is Off, After FIFA Refuse To Ratify Deal

Odijidja-Ofoe move collapses.

Everton are considering their options after FIFA refused to ratify the loan move of Belgium international Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe from Club Brugge.

The Toffees agreed a deadline day deal to take the 23-year-old on a season-long deal with an option to buy next summer and believed the required documentation had been submitted before the 23:00 BST cut-off on 31 August.

But FIFA have decided against rubber stamping the midfielder’s switch to Goodison Park.

Everton said in a statement on the club’s official website: “The decision comes despite both the Football Association and Premier League giving their full support to the loan agreement and Everton lodging the relevant signed paperwork in advance of the international transfer deadline.”

The Toffees said they will consider “all available options” before discussing the issue further.

Odjidja-Ofoe is half Ghanaian but has chosen to represent Belgium at international level. The former Hamburg and Anderlecht midfielder has three caps for his country and would join compatriots Maroune Fellaini and Kevin Mirallas on Merseyside if Everton can resurrect the deal.
