Man United Ready to Make January Move for Brazilian Youngster Ganso

Old Trafford side to re-ignite interest in Santos midfielder.

Sir Alex Ferguson is readying a January move for highly rated Brazilian international Ganso as it looks increasingly likely the youngster will move to Europe.

The rangy midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past and a recent breakdown in the relationship between the player and his club Santos looks likely to see the 22 year old pursue a move away from his Sao Paulo based side.

Tottenham are said to have taken an interest in the Brazilian having failed in their attempts to land Portuguese midfielders Joao Moutinho but it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson leads the chase for Ganso after having already made ground with exploratory talks with the player’s representatives earlier in the summer.

Ferguson had spent a large portion of the transfer window trying to lure Ganso’s national team colleague Lucas Moura to Old Trafford only to see the teenager make a big money move to PSG but the Scot will hope his pursuit of the Santos man will prove successful.

The Man United boss is keen to strengthen his midfield as a number of those in his armoury are either experiencing very average form or at the latter end of their careers.

Darren Fletcher is still feeling his way back following illness and Anderson has failed to fulfill his potential and could well be facing a make or break season at the club he joined back in 2007 for a massive £27m fee. Michael Carrick is perhaps not as advanced a performer as in his pomp and Paul Scholes is clearly nearing the end of his Man United career.

Ganso has made over 150 appearances for Santos and is a regular in the Brazilian national team set-up.
