Old Trafford side sure to be interested in Belgian midfielder.
French source L’Equipe is today reporting that Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini wants to leave Goodison Park. The Belgian is quoted as saying
“I started my fifth season (in Toffees ). I’ve seen everything. In January or at the end of the season, I’ll turn to another club or another championship.”
This is news that is sure to interest Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who has repeatedly been linked with interest in the former Standard Liege man.
The Old Trafford manager may feel the need to boost his midfield options given that Paul Scholes is nearing the end of his career, Michael Carrick is perhaps not as big of an impact player as he once was. Anderson has been a fairly average performer over the past couple of seasons and Darren Fletcher is still recovering from a long term illness.
Youngster Tom Cleverley is a player showing great potential but Ferguson could well take advantage of Fellaini’s apparent desire to leave the Toffees when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Fellaini has notched up 140 appearances for Everton since his £15m move to the Merseyside club, netting 22 goals in the process. The forward thinking midfielder has scored three times against Man United including most recently in this season’s opener at home to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
