Villa Park star accused of being involved in attack on motorist.
ASTON Villa’s £7 million summer signing Christian Benteke is facing car-jacking charges in his native Belgium.
The Belgian international striker and two friends are accused of being involved in the brutal beating of a motorist before making off in the victim’s Volkswagen Polo car.
The 21-year-old Congolese-born player was arrested at the scene in Liege, Belgium, and held overnight before being brought to court in handcuffs to face charges of robbery and assault.

Oddly enough this case dates back to November and had appeared to have disappeared from view but has now once again hit the headlines as a date for the case has been fixed.
This source goes into detail about the allegation which appears to centre on the leasing of a car by Benteke and others, a car that then turned out to be registered as stolen which resulted in an altercation between a group connected to the newly signed Aston Villa star and the person who had rented a car to the former Genk player.
The alleged victim gave an interview to a Liege newspaper in which he said Benteke had been present – but had not joined in the attack.
Aston Villa has responded to the re-surfacing of this story with an official statement that reads.
“The club is aware of the investigation relating to an incident which occurred in November 2011.
“Christian and his legal team have co-operated fully with the investigation and eye-witnesses have, in fact, confirmed that Christian took no part in the matters alleged.
“Christian has continued to focus successfully on his club and international career since the alleged incident took place.”
