Fulham Set to Sign Greek Veteran Giorgos Karagounis

Craven Cottage side line up move for experienced midfielder.

Fulham are poised to snap up Greek midfielder Giorgos Karagounis.

Karagounis is available as a free agent after his contract ran out at Panathinaikos.

The 35-year-old has a wealth of experience having also played for Inter Milan and Benfica during his career.
And Fulham could now hand him a contract, with Martin Jol keen to strengthen his squad following the departures of Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey.

Martin Jol’s interest in Greek veteran Giorgos Karagounis is something of a ‘no-brainer’. The fact that a player of the 35 year old’s ability is available on a free transfer is simply to good an opportunity to pass up and the experienced Greek international could very well ably fill the hole left by Danny Murphy’s exit, with the former Fulham midfielder moving to Blackburn Rovers this summer.

The former Inter Milan midfielder was a crucial member of his national team set-up as he captained Greece to the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.

Karagounis has amassed almost 600 appearances at club and national team level and may well add more quality to the Fulham midfield.

The former Panathinaikos hero two seasons at Inter Milan and two years at Benfica prior to a return to the Athens side in 2007.
