Game Of The Week: England Vs Ukraine – The Road To Brazil 2014

Following the 5-0 victory over Moldova on Friday night, we think it’s safe to say with no hint of irony that England are going to win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Well, perhaps not but the evening couldn’t have gone much better for Roy Hodgson and the Three Lions: Gerrard and Lampard played well together for the first time in donkey’s years; Jermain Defoe justified his inclusion with a goal; James Milner illustrated that he isn’t just a clogger/work-horse with another goal; Leighton Baines proved that he is David Beckham-reincarnate by scoring a free-kick and, to cap the night off in wondrous fashion, John Terry got injured and looked sad.

As we’ve been frequently reminded since, however, there are sterner tests ahead for England – starting on Wednesday night at Wembley.

Ukraine are England’s opponents for the second time this summer and, with memories of their “ghost goal” at Euro 2012 still painfully fresh, Oleg Blohkin’s men will be out for revenge.

With Ashley Cole and Terry ruled out with injury, England suddenly look so much more likeable so, England fans and neutrals alike, its time to show your supports for the Three Lions!
