Tottenham Given Hope In Chase for Italian Striker Giuseppe Rossi

White Hart Lane side back in contention to sign Villarreal ace.

Tottenham target Giuseppe Rossi could be keen on a move to White Hart Lane – but the Villarreal striker is also interested in a switch to Roma.

The striker, currently sidelined until early 2013 with cruciate knee ligament problems, has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time now.

He has enjoyed a decent spell in Spain which has led to interest in him, especially from Tottenham.

And the USA-born Italy international, 25, has plenty of options to consider when the transfer window opens in January.

Rossi’s agent Federico Pastorello says Roma remain keen but a move to England cannot be ruled out.

“Roma would be an intriguing option for him,” Pastorello told Sky Sport Italia. “Rossi had given the all-clear to the move, but then it never quite materialised. There were several clubs who showed an interest, but at this moment we mustn’t be in a rush.

“The Premier League clubs? We won’t rule anything out.

A return to the Premier League may well appeal to Italian international Giuseppe Rossi after the US born striker failed to make the 25 year old failed to make the grade at Man United.

The Villarreal man would almost certainly have left the El Madrigal side this summer if he had recovered from his cruciate ligament injury in time but a move in January could be on the cards as the pint sized striker looks to likely to leave his side after they suffered relegated to the Spanish second tier.

Tottenham were looking to beef up their attacking options over the summer and successfully snapped up Emmanuel Adebayor and Clint Dempsey but Andre Villas-Boas may feel he could do with further support and may therefore encourage the White Hart Lane side to continue their pursuit of the Villarreal man.

Rossi has netted 82 goals in five seasons at the Spanish side having cost Villarreal £6.6m in the summer of 2007.
