Tottenham New-Boy Hugo Lloris Set For Talks With Andre Villas-Boas Following Comments

France stopper unhappy to hear new boss state he may not be no.1 at Spurs.

Tottenham’s new signing Hugo Lloris has admitted it was ‘not nice’ to hear his new boss say that he may not begin as the first-choice ‘keeper and the Frenchman is eager to talk to Andre Villas-Boas about the situation when he returns from international duty.

The France captain was signed by Spurs on transfer deadline-day in an £11m deal but current no.1 Brad Friedel responded to his signing by putting in one of his best performances in Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Norwich the following day.

Lloris is widely regarded as one of the best ‘keepers in the world but following the match Villas-Boas claimed that Friedel’s current form meant Lloris would not necessarily walk straight into the first-team and would need to earn the starting spot, according to Sky Sports.

France boss Didier Deschamps had already suggested that Lloris was unhappy to hear the comments and the player has now confirmed these sentiments, though he is hoping face-to-face talks with Villas-Boas when he returns from international duty on Wednesday will bring clarity to his situation.

Lloris has made 39 appearances for France since his debut in 2008.
