Dutch star limped out of the Netherlands’ World Cup Qualifying win against Hungary last night.
Manchester United are sweating over the results of tests on the thigh injury star-striker Robin Van Persie picked up in the Netherlands’ 4-1 World Cup Qualifying win against Hungary last night.
The forward was forced off with the injury during his side’s victory, though national coach Louis Van Gaal has been quick to suggest it was only a ‘precautionary measure’ to substitute the Dutchman, reports the BBC.
However, Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be desperate for reassurance that this is the case, as a longer-term problem would leave Utd looking short up font.
Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is already out injured, while new-arrival Shinji Kagawa was forced to miss Japan’s game against Iran with a back injury.
At such a crucial stage in the season, as the Premier League returns this weekend after the international break, Utd fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Van Persie, who joined them in a £24m deal in the summer after topping last season’s scoring charts with Arsenal.
Van Persie has been capped 69 times for his country and has 30 goals to his name.
