Aston Villa Linked With Move to Sign Dutch International Siem De Jong

Villa Park side keen on Ajax attacker.

Spanish source TotoMercadoWeb today reports that Aston Villa are displaying an interest in Ajax attacker Siem De Jong.

Villa Park boss Paul Lambert had a fairly subdued transfer window, during which he made repeated Eredivisie raids to bring in Brett Holman, Karim El Ahmadi and Ron Vlaar and could well be looking to add to this plethora of Dutch based talent with a move to land highly rated Dutch international De Jong.

The 23 year old Swiss born Ajax star is an adaptable attacking weapon capable of effectively filling either an advanced central midfield role or as an orthodox striker.

Over the past three seasons the former De Graafschap youth team player has performed consistently, netting 17, 16, and 17 goals respectively and helping his Amsterdam side to back to back domestic titles over the past two campaigns.

Lambert may well feel he needs an injection of attacking quality, especially as his side has managed just two goals thus far this season.
