Speculation of a move away from the Nou Camp for former Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas continue to emerge despite the fact that issues relating to being a ‘bit-part’ player are some way wide of the mark.
The Spanish international may well have a mountain of talent to compete with but the 25 year old has started every one of the Catalan side’s La Liga matches so must surely not have any issue relating to his place in Tito Vilanova’s plans.
However it is true that Fabregas was left out of Barcelona’s starting eleven for their Spanish Super Cup battle with Real Madrid but it’s fair to say that in the grand scheme of things that tournament is perhaps very low down on the club’s order of importance.
Sir Alex Ferguson may however feel the need to strengthen his midfield options and Fabregas is certainly a caliber of player the Scot would be interested in.
The Barcelona midfielder has racked up over 350 club appearances and 72 national team caps, a fairly hefty total for a player of his age.
Given that Paul Scholes is nearing the end of his career and Michael Carrick is perhaps not as attack minded as he once was, a move for a creative midfielder may well make a great deal of sense though Sir Alex Ferguson will have high hopes fo youngster Tom Cleverley, who is now a regular in the England national team set-up.
