Man United & Man City In Fight for Lethal Brazilian Finisher

Old Trafford and Etihad Stadium boss’s very keen on Internacional forward.

Manchester City are ready to enter the running to sign Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

The Brazil international, who starred at London 2012 as his country earned silver medals, has been tracked by numerous Premier League clubs.

And Manchester United have also made it clear to Internacional that they are keen on the striker.
City have remained quiet but reports in Brazil now claim Roberto Mancini is keen on the 23-year-old.

As this source reports, Tottenham were very close to agreeing a deal to sign Internacional striker Leandro Damiao but failed to lure the Brazilian international but now Andre Villas-Boas may well feel that having landed Emmanuel Adebayor and Clint Dempsey in the transfer window he may not need to re-open talks to sign the 23 year old.

However Man City and Man United are now both on the case, despite the fact that both sides being chock-a-block with attacking talent, perhaps this is evidence of Roberto Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson’s admiration of the player in question.

Damiao has netted 71 goals in 119 appearances for Internacional and is a regular in the Brazilian national team set-up, and his form during the 2012 Olympic football tournament, during which he finished as the top scorer and won a silver medal, may well have earned him a fair few fans in the English top tier.

Ferguson has brought in Robin Van Persie to beef up his attacking options but has then seen Wayne Rooney out injured with a badly gashed leg and the new Dutch signing is also said to be suffering with a slight injury himself, perhaps lending credence to the need for another strong striking addition to his Old Trafford squad.

Roberto Mancini has four international level hit-men to cal upon himself in the form of Argentine pair Sergio Aguero & Carlos Tevez as well as Mario Balotelli and in-form Bosnian Edin Dzeko.

Perhaps both manager’s feel that Damiao is the type of player who is superior to some of the options they currently have in their armoury and both boss’s may feel that the powerfully built Brazilian could add something to their respective squads, expect interest in the Internacional man to mount as we move nearer to winter.
