Arsenal to Launch £12m January Move to Sign French International Enforcer Etienne Capoue

Emirates Stadium push to land summer target.

Arsenal are interested in Toulouse midfielder Étienne Capoue and could press ahead with a move for him in January.

France international Capoue, a tough-tackling 24-year-old, has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time and there were suggestions Wenger wanted him this summer.

No move materialised but it is understood the north London side could come in with a bid of around £12m when the window reopens.

Arguably this is perhaps a signing that Arsene Wenger should have pushed to secure before the transfer window slammed shut as the Gunners could well do with a steely presence in the centre of their midfield.

Abou Diaby has experienced something of a return to form thus far this season but there are reports that the French international is once again struggling with an injury concern, an issue that has plagued his Arsenal career.

24 year old Capoue is entering his sixth season in Toulouse’s first team picture and much like another Arsenal target, Rennes enforcer Yann M’Vila, the Niort born defensive midfielder has arguably outgrown his Ligue 1 side but though the pressure may be on to sell it seems that Toulouse will only do so for the right price.

Capoue made his national team debut in August and earlier this month scored his first goal for France as they overcame Belarus.
