Arsenal & Liverpool Ready for January Battle for Spanish International Forward Fernando Llorente

Emirates Stadium and Anfield sides both after Athletic Bilbao giant.

Arsenal and Liverpool target Fernando Llorente has revealed he could leave Athletic Bilbao in January – but insists a move to Juventus is not done and dusted.

Llorente’s mooted transfer to Juve failed to materialise in the summer but it has been suggested in Italy that a move to Turin is a foregone conclusion.

Speaking after Sunday’s 3-3 draw at Espanyol, in which he scored, Llorente said: “Now I am only thinking about helping the team and I will try to make things go as well as last year.

“I’ve been at Athletic for many years and always will be Athletic – although one day I will play for another team.

“It has been a bumpy and hard summer and I’ve had to make tough decisions.

“You never know how things will turn out and I had to go through difficult times.

“In January I am free to negotiate my future, but I want to be focused to try to help the team.

Fernando Llorente has long been linked with a move away from his Basque side but it does seem that the Athletic Bilbao man is moving towards a San Mames departure with Arsenal and Liverpool now looking to challenge Juventus for the Spanish interantional forward.

The 6ft 5in forward may be ideally suited to a move to the English top tier and both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers could well need an attacking addition.

Arsenal brought in Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud in the summer but then saw Robin Van Persie complete his move to Man United. Whilst the German international has started well at the North London club, former Montpellier man Giroud has yet to find his feet.

Rodgers has just two recognised senior strikers in Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini and has seen Liverpool score just three times in the opening four games of the season.

Llorente has been a consistent La Liga attacking force for a number of seasons and has scored 102 goals over the course of the last five seasons.
