Juventus Begin Negotiations For Arsenal Target Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

Old Lady keen on defender.

Juventus have entered negotiations with Montpellier over the transfer of Arsneal and AC Milan target Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, according to reports in the French media.

The 23-year-old captain of the Ligue 1 Champions was the subject of a bid from the Gunners this summer but admitted the move did not go ahead because he was focussed on joining AC Milan instead.

“The chairman told me I have an agreement to leave,” the centre-half told Sky Sports on 6 September.

“AC Milan came for me. But the chairman refused the offer. So I understood it would be difficult.

“Arsenal came to make an attempt. But I was focused on something else. I was disappointed when I understood it could not be sorted out with Milan,” he finished.

According to French website Le10Sport, Yanga-Mbiwa is currently in negotiations with Juventus and could seal his dream move to Italy in January.

The French international has just one year remaining on his current deal with Montpellier and may be allowed to leave on the cheap.

The African-born star can play anywhere across the back four but is set to line-up at centre-half against the Gunners in Tuesday’s evening’s Champions League Group B opener.
