Ex-Chelsea Star Michael Ballack Linked With Move to A-League Side Western Sydney Wanderers

German reportedly interested in Sydney switch.

Ex-Chelsea star Michael Ballack could be the third high-profile player in as many days to head to Asutralia.

The former Germany captain is reportedly interested in joining Western Sydney Wanderers and his arrival Down Under would cap off a remarkable week for the A-League after Alessandro del Piero joined Sydney FC.

Former England international Emile Heskey is also reportedly on the verge of joining Newcastle Jets.

Although no official talks have taken place between Ballack and the East Coast club, it is understood that Ballack would welcome the chance to move to Oz.

The 35-year-old, who was released from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of last season, reportedly has offers on the table from the Middle East and is treating Sydney’s interest with caution so as not to jeopardise his chances of a move elsewhere.

However, Western Sydney refused to comment on the speculation.

“A-League clubs talk to lots of player agents about lots of different players,” club chairman Lyall Gorman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“We don’t provide a running commentary on these talks and we won’t offer confirmations or denials every time a rumour surfaces.”
