Toffees interested in former England man after proposed move to Lille fell through.
Everton boss David Moyes is considering offering free-agent Owen Hargreaves a pay-as-you play deal after the midfielder’s proposed move to french side Lille fell through.
Hargreaves was released from Premier League Champions Manchester City in the summer, having managed just one league appearances for them in his season at the club.
Moyes is willing to give 31-year-old Hargreaves the chance to prove he is able to get back to match-fitness, believing he will be a positive influence on the training ground with his dedication and commitment in this regard.
It would remain something of a gamble in terms of the player’s fitness, however, after the former Bayern Munich man left first Manchester United and then rivals City without having been able to overcome the knee problems that have dogged him for several years now since he stood-out for England at the 2006 World Cup, reports the Daily Mail.
It is thought the salary that Everton would be willing to pay Hargreaves would be minimal in comparison to what Lille were initially prepared to offer him, but, with this now seeming his last possible chance in the Premier League, the player is willing to accept this and do his all to get back playing again.
