Isco Barca move blocked.
Liverpool and Tottenham have been given fresh hope in the race for Malaga starlet Isco after it emerged that the youngster’s father preventing his son from joining Barcelona this summer.
The 20-year-old playmaker is one of the hottest properties in Europe and has been likened to current Barca and Spain stars Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
Spurs reportedly had a deadline day bid rejected for Isco, while mega-rich Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala were also thought to be interested. The youngster has even been mooted as a long-term replacement for England captain Steven Gerrard at Anfield.
And both Liverpool and Spurs have been given hope in their pursuit of the star, after Spanish newspaper AS reported that the player’s father blocked a move to Barca this summer.
It is believed his father felt he would not get sufficient game-time to shine at the Nou Camp and his bold decision looks to be paying off, with Isco instrumental in Malaga’s strong start to the season in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Isco currently has a €21 million (£16.8m) release clause inserted in his contract, with the amount increasing by another million every year until 2016.
It is thought that Spurs may return with fresh bid for the pass-master in January – as a cheaper alternative to Joao Moutinho – while Barca might also renew their interest.
