Tottenham Boss Lines Up Double Chelsea Raid: Villas-Boas Keen to Land Pair In January

White Hart Lane boss lines up move for Stamford Bridge pair.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has set his sights on luring Chelsea pair Daniel Sturridge and Oriol Romeu in January as the White Hart Lane manager looks to further strengthen his squad when the transfer window re-opens.

Villas-Boas has endured a shaky start to his Spurs reign and will look to chairman Daniel Levy to finance significant bids for the Chelsea pair, both of whom could well be keen on leaving Stamford Bridge in order to pursue the first team football they are not enjoying at the West London club.

Daniel Sturridge has managed just 31 minutes of Premier League action this term as Roberto Di Matteo doggedly sticks with Fernando Torres as his main attacking option and this has led to speculation that the England international will seek to leave Chelsea and a move to rejoin his former boss at Tottenham could interest the former Man City man.

Villas-Boas showed a great deal of faith in the 23 year old during his brief time in charge of Chelsea and the moment Di Matteo took over Sturridge found himself very much a bit-part player, missing out on both FA Cup and Champions League finals last term.

Though the likes of Clint Dempsey and Emmanuel Adebayor were brought in over the summer Tottenham have still struggled for goals and Villas-Boas will look to make an offer that would tempt Chelsea to sell Sturridge in January.

Andre Villas-Boas is also keen on bringing in young Spaniard Oriol Romeu in January. The former Barcelona youngster hasn’t figured at all this term and may well be a player Chelsea would consider offers for given the number of midfielders in Di Matteo’s expansive squad.

The 20 year old defensive midfielder made 20 Chelsea appearances prior to Villas-Boas being axed but has been selected for just two matches since his departure and the Spanish Under 21 international could well be open to a move to reunite with the Portuguese boss.

Roman Abramovich invested another £80m+ in his Chelsea squad over the summer and could be willing to offload the pair in order to help balance the books ahead of any other potential January additions.
