Tottenham Chase ‘New Drogba’ as Andre Villas-Boas Looks to Beef Up Attacking Options

White Hart Lane side keen on Congo international.

Spurs are one of a handful of clubs trying to sign Dieumerci Mbokani, according to the player’s agent.

Mbokani, who plays for DR Congo and Anderlecht, has been likened to the former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba because of his power and athleticism.

Baglio said: “Of all the clubs, Juventus is the most practical option. It is not a new thing, because they have already followed Dieu when he played for Standard Liege.

“There have been contacts between Anderlecht and Juventus and last week I was in Turin. A sale in January? You never know.

“There are many candidates, like Fiorentina, who are building a new team, and in England Tottenham are the most attractive option.”

Even though Tottenham brought in Clint Dempsey and Emmanuel Adebayor during the transfer window it seems that Andre Villas-Boas is still keen to beef up his attacking options and Mbokani is high up on his wish-list.

The Anderlecht forward’s agent points out that a number of sides are interested in his client, though it is perhaps questionable for a player’s representative to publicly name interested parties.

The 26 year old netted 15 goals last term and already has three to his name this term and the former Monaco man would probably be greatly tempted by a move to the Premier League and a move away from his Brussels based side in January appears a distinct possibility.
