Villa Park side keen on Magpies man.
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert wants to snap up out-of-favour Newcastle star Dan Gosling.
Lambert is a fan of the midfielder who has fought back from injury but is now stuck on the fringes of Alan Pardew’s side.
Gosling joined the Toon on a controversial free transfer from Everton – but his career was held back by a knee problem that put him out for a year. Now Gosling is fit but cannot force his way into Pardew’s plans – and that has alerted Villa who made an enquiry for him in the last window and are ready to make a £2million bid.

Former Everton midfielder Gosling’s career has never quite his the heights one would have expected following the manner in which he burst onto the scene as a talented 16 year old at Plymouth Argyle and a move to Aston Villa may well tempt the England Under 21 international.
Lambert is finding life pretty hard as Aston Villa boss thus far and the 4-1 mauling at newly promoted Southampton will have led many to lay a bet on the former Canaries boss winning the Premier League sack race and the Villa Park boss will hope to have funds to improve his squad when the transfer window re-opens in January.
22 year old Magpies man Gosling has made just one Premier League start since his move to St James’ Park more than two years ago and therefore could be a player Alan Pardew would listen to offers for and a move to Aston Villa could help to get the youngster’s career back on track.
