Stamford Bridge side keen on San Siro teenager.
Chelsea keeping tabs on unsettled Milan starlet Bryan Cristante
Cristante is regarded as the next big thing to roll off the Milan production line, having enjoyed a rapid rise to the top in the last 12 months.
The 17-year-old was parachuted into first-team training at the start of last season, and capped that off by making his debut in the 2-2 Champions League draw with Viktoria Plzen in December, becoming the youngest ever Milan player to feature in Europe in the process, aged just 16 years and 278 days.
However, it has been his only taste of senior match action to date, and fearing he may be stagnating in the Milan youth team, Cristante is currently weighing up a move out of the San Siro in January.
What is perhaps notable about Chelsea’s £80m summer spending spree was that the six players brought in are all 23 years of age or under and this coupled with the decision to allow veteran Didier Drogba to leave and Jose Bosingwa to do likewise whilst Raul Meireles was sold to Fenerbahce, points to a side looking to plan for the future.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich appears to have gotten a new lease of life since his side clinched their maiden Champions League glory, the Russian billionaire seems ever keener to invest in the Stamford Bridge side as they look to mount a genuine Premier League title challenge having slipped down to sixth last term.
January may well be the right time to try to lure 17 year old Cristante from AC Milan as the San Siro side is going through something of a tough spell at present. Massimiliano Allegri may well be on his way out after seeing his Rossoneri lose three of their first four games of the Serie A season.
Indeed there is a great deal of bad feeling from the club’s supporters towards owner Silvio Berlusconi, who opted to sell the club’s best defender and best striker, Thiago Silva & Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to PSG over the summer.
