Parc des Princes ready to make huge bid for Santos youngster.
Paris St Germain set to beat Chelsea to signature of Neymar with £85m bid
Paris St Germain are ready to break the world transfer record with an £85 million bid for Chelsea’s long-time target Neymar, according to reports in France.
The Brazilian forward is widely regarded as the biggest talent in world football, having established himself as the figurehead for both club and country after bursting on the scene as a 17-year-old at Santos in 2009.
It is understood that he is now willing to consider other offers, with big spending French side PSG ready to offer £85 million in what would be their most audacious coup yet.
PSG appear to be a team on a mission. That mission is to first clinch their first domestic title in almost 20 years but one imagines that the Parc des Princes big spenders are looking far beyond Ligue 1 success and have started to spend accordingly.
Last term their big name signing came in the form of Javier Pastore but this summer they have topped that by some margin. Carlo Ancelotti welcomed Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jeremy Menez and Lucas Moura (to name just a few) and so it’s not a massive surprise that PSG now target Neymar.
The Brazilian youngster has been in superb form at Santos over the past year, netting 36 goals in 38 matches this season, and it had appeared that the 20 year old would stay in his homeland until the 2014 World Cup but now having seen team-mate Ganso fall out with the club and move to Sao Paulo, perhaps Neymar is ready to consider his options.
Perhaps PSG are hoping that Neymar would look to Ronaldinho as inspiration, with the Brazilian midfielder having left Gremio for the Parisian side as a 21 year old, spent two years in the French capital before making a big splash at Barcelona.
Clearly a world record £85m offer will be considered by Santos and perhaps it’s the type of signing that would help PSG to challenge for the Champions League.
