Emirates Stadium side eye up young talent.
Danish source TipsBladet claim Arsenal are scouting young Icelandic striker Aron Johannsson.
You may not have heard of the 21 year old American born Icelandic Under 21 international forward but if he continues to rack up goals at his current rate and further impress Gunners scouts then he may well become a more recognizable figure. The Aarhus forwarded has netted an incredible ten goals in his last four matches for AGF and as such was bound to garner some interest. Such a record is unparalleled across Europe, albeit in a relatively average domestic league.
This term Johannsson set the Danish record for the fastest ever hat-trick when he netted three goals against AC Horsens in under four minutes.
Arsene Wenger is of course renowned for picking up relative unknowns and making their most of their potential and perhaps Johannsson is a player the Gunners boss feels has the potential to make the rather big leap from the Danish Superliga to the upper echelons of the Premier League.
Arsenal could certainly well do with some attacking back-up options. Though Wenger brought in Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud over the summer he did, in one way or the other, lose four strikers this summer.
Robin Van Persie and Carlos Vela were sold to Man United and Real Sociedad respectively, and out of favour pair Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young were sent out on loan and may not return to the North London club. Up and coming Costa Rican has also been farmed out, to Real Betis, but is certainly part of Arsene Wenger’s long term plans.
