Italian source TransferMarketWeb claim that London rivals Chelsea & Tottenham will continue their battle to land Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The Marseille forward may be ready to make his move to the Premier League having seemingly been linked with prospective suitors from the English top tier for a few seasons now.

The 25 year old has enjoyed two successful seasons at the Stade Velodrome since his move from Nice, netting 37 goals from 83 appearances. The Daily Mail stated last month that Chelsea were closing in on the French international following a £15m bid but it seems that deal didn’t come to fruition.

The Ligue 1 side may well be ready to consider offers for Remy after he became frozen out of new boss Elie Baup’s side. Thus far the speedy striker has had to settle for a place coming on off the bench and has not started a single Ligue 1 match this term as Marseille have marched on to six wins from six and are now sitting pretty at the top of the table.

Chelsea may well feel the need to strengthen an attack that overly depends on Fernando Torres, who is once again struggling for form. Roberto Di Matteo’s only other tangible striking option is Daniel Sturridge and the West London side may have to consider bringing loaned out youngster Romelu Lukaku back from his loan move to West Brom in January.

Tottenham initially struggled under Andre Villas-Boas but the North London side have picked up their form and Jermain Defoe has started to get a head of steam up, leading to new permanent signing Emmanuel Adebayor being left on the bench.
