Italian source CalcioMercato today report that Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach are planning an ambitious move to sign Everton striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatian international has been a big hit at Goodison Park since his £5.5m move from Rangers to Merseyside in January, netting nine goals in 12 Premier League appearances last term. This season hasn’t proven quite so productive but Jelavic is certainly a player David Moyes will fight tooth and nail to keep at the club.

Borussia Monchengladbach struggled for goals last term but still secured a Champions League berth but despite being able to offer Jelavic a chance to partake in the showpiece trophy and perhaps even mount a Bundesliga title charge it still seems highly unlikely that the Everton man would consider leaving any time soon.

Moyes brought in decent striking support for Jelavic over the summer with the additions of former Rangers team-mate Steven Naismith and Belgian international Kevin Mirallas.
