Junior Hoilett: QPR agree to pay Blackburn a fee rising to £4m

QPR have agreed a compensation fee of up to £4m with Blackburn for Junior Hoilett.
Hoilett, 22, joined on a four-year deal in July after his Rovers contract expired but Rangers needed to pay a fee as the winger is under the age of 24.

It appears that the two clubs opted to avoid taking this matter to a PFA tribunal as Canadian international Hoilett, though out of contract, was unable to move clubs on a free transfer due to his age.

£4m seems about right and apparently QPR will pay £3m up front and could trigger another £1m payment dependent on appearances.

The 22 year old has made five starts in all competitions thus far this season and scored his first goal for the West London side on Wednesday night during QPR’s defeat at home to Reading in the Capital One Cup.
